TUS has been implementing Watershed Co-activities in Khagrachari Hill District practising traditional Village common forest (VCF) management which is the mother practice that encompasses many of the traditional practices based on traditional knowledge of the forest dweller and forest-dependent indigenous communities across CHT. The VCF management includes the techniques of nursing the forest and extracting livelihood materials in a sustainable way doing least harm to wildlife and plant resources and keeping the streams alive. Which ensured food security and climate resilience livelihood. So, TUS believe that this is the innovative and sustainable development initiative of the world.

Environmental Impacts

The VCF management system is traditional forest management system in the Chittagong Hill Tracts which includes forest and extracting livelihood materials in a sustainable way doing least harm to wildlife and plant resources and keeping the streams alive.

The VCF management system is a sustainable long-term development system. The system is managed by the community peoples in a participatory way.

Scalability

This is a traditional forest management system in the Chittagong Hill Tracts(CHT). The indigenous peoples of CHT practising this system for the immense of years. Hence, Trinamul Unnayan Sangstha(TUS) has taken initiative to revive it. So, it is a good and sustainable forest management and it can be scaled up by the government.

Replicability

The VCF management system is a proven sustainable forest management system in CHT. So, if the government of Bangladesh wish to replicate it at national level TUS are interested in contributing for replication in Bangladesh or in other countries..
