Workshop on Health, Poverty and Conservation:
Securing Africa’s Future: Biodiversity and Health – HIV/AIDS

Main Themes

The central theme of the workshop is enhancing human health and reducing poverty through biodiversity conservation. In order to address this issue several questions must be posed: What are the linkages/ relationships between biodiversity and health and how are they beneficial to both? What is the role of biodiversity conservation in securing human well being? How does biodiversity conservation contribute to securing health and meeting the needs of the poor? Who is involved in promoting human well-being and bringing about environmental sustainability and what are their rights and responsibilities? And finally, w hat are the different aspects of poverty that impact on human health and biodiversity conservation?
