The creation of a rural women vegetable network has provided the opportunity for the women to contribute resources monthly (5000 FRS) in order to obtain access to market information.
The network has also provided further training on literacy and farming inputs through its members and other women’s groups. The trained rural women from this project have further trained more than 1,000 rural women from other organizations and village. The Women farmers understand the advantages of the cooperative they will be encouraged to sell their produce and share profits within the network.

Environmental Impacts

1. 100 Rural Women farmers cultivate vegetables and crops resilient to the effect of climate change improving on food security in Cameroon.
2. The 100 women farmers are now using the agroforestry techniques for reafforestation to protect the forest, fertile volcanic soils, and combat climate change.

• 100 rural women across the local communities increased their knowledge around land preparation and farming inputs by sharing their knowledge with each other.
• 100 rural women generate an increase in vegetable crop yields of 100% due to optimal use of land and inputs.

Jobs and Livelihood
• 100 rural women have a sustained increase of 100% in their average household income to 80,000 FRS per month due to improved business and income generation skills.
• Women vegetable farmers’ network to provide economic cooperation, exchange of market information and ongoing learning opportunities for members.
• 100 rural women using literacy skills to gain access to basic market information related to vegetable farming in local publications keep records of their sales of vegetable production, measure vegetable farmland and weigh fertilizers to be applied on vegetable farmland.


There was a need to upscale the project to empower and improve the sustainable livelihood of the rural women farmers who have been marginalized in rural communities in Cameroon.
There was the need to upscale the project so as to contribute to the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and sustainable development goals SDGS 1, 2, 5 and 17.
The project has been expanded in the northwest region of Cameroon with the aim to enhance the livelihoods of rural women in the North West region villages of Batibo, Guzang, and Bessi by donating on agricultural farming inputs alleviating poverty and reducing hunger in the long run. These women farmers are now using hand push trucks to better improve sustainable livelihood through the transportation of food crops to the market due to poor farm-to-market roads and inadequate transport means.


The project was replicated so as to empower and reach a great number of beneficiaries (rural women farmers). This project has been replicated in the northwest region Cameroon in Batibo Sub-Division in the village communities of Guzang, Bessi, and Batibo. 50 women farmers have been supported by MIVA Switzerland with Hand –Push Trucks to facilitate their movement of food and cash crops to the market.
The project is aimed to enhance the livelihoods of rural women in the North West region villages of Batibo, Guzang, and Bessi by donating on agricultural farming inputs alleviating poverty and reducing hunger in the long run.
