The key elements to ensuring the sustainability is to strengthen the faith and self-esteem of the local population in preserving their unique environment, culture/traditions and language. Increasing the activity of Yaghnob residents in public life, expanding participation in traditional events, strengthening cooperation with state and non-state actors and create such conditions for the further sustainability. The initiative creates an opportunity to combat the current challenges in the territory of the national park where the Yagnob people live and thereby help the local community to become more socially, financially, environmentally, and institutionally sustainable. The rational use of natural resources and respect for nature, based on traditional knowledge, will increase environmental sustainability in the protected area, which in turn will have a positive effect on the development the sources of regular income.

RESILIENCE, ADAPTABILITY, AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Since the initiative is principally directed to sustainable lifestyles as a result it will affect the population of Tajikistan - local communities, traditional leaders, government agencies, youth, stewards and everyone who works on conservation of biodiversity and will empower country residents to maintain their traditions and uses of native languages and plants, and be more effective stewards of their traditional cultures and natural heritage. We hope that the valley will become a kind of laboratory for international and national research for scientists, especially geographers, archeologists, historians, economists, linguists, ethnographers and ecologists and we think that this will also serve as a basis for the development of sustainable development programs on the national level and other mountainous and remote regions of Tajikistan, which have not yet received appropriate attention from the state.

Most importantly, we hope that the initiative will serve to provide some of life’s most joyous moments. It is within this area that our spirits can soar and our soul can be replenished. We can feel joy in the beauty of the place, from the feeling of solitude, or from having an interaction with wildlife and also hope that it will inspire Yaghnoby youth to be proud of their ancestral land, scientist, writers, poets, and philosophers to produce books, movies, and documentaries. Yaghnoby Park will bring tremendous cultural, ecological, spiritual, and scientific benefits to society. It is critical for preserving global biodiversity and stemming the extinction crisis. The concept of free, prior, and informed consent is the right of indigenous peoples to make free and informed choices to share their culture, traditions, language, knowledge or development of their lands and resources. Taking under the consideration the basic principles of free, prior, and informed consent we will ensure that local community is not forced or intimidated, its consent is sought and freely given prior to the authorization or start of any activities, that they will have full information about the scope and impacts of any proposed developments, and ensured that traditional knowledge is respected and valued, the consultative processes are culturally appropriate, and information is presented in a suitable format and their choices to give or withhold consent are respected.

To achieve the main goals, the initiative ensures that the local community takes active part in all aspects of the community life and ensures equal participation of women and men. From the activities of reviving crafts and promoting community tourism to traditional medicine.
