2023 Equator Prize: Community Dialogues and Training
Day 3 - Storytelling in Action
Wednesday, October 4, 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM New York Time

Day 3 began with a recap of storytelling and elevator pitch practices. Participants shared experiences from recording their pitches and provided feedback on each other’s videos.
The focus then shifted to crafting a Community Statement, emphasizing the shared vision of the Equator Prize winners and the critical role of nature-based solutions in addressing climate change and fostering prosperity. Participants collaborated in breakout groups to discuss global challenges, formulate calls to action for world leaders, and highlight key issues such as Indigenous rights, youth involvement, and community engagement. Their insights and discussions were instrumental in shaping the content of the final Community Statement, which would be jointly recorded to reflect their collective voice and commitments.
Carl Gakran from Instituto Zág (Brazil) encapsulated the discussions with a powerful statement: "What the world needs to know is that our work has not started now; we have been doing this for thousands of years."
